Accurate depth measurements are always highly recommended especially for accurate surveys and when considering the expenses of dredged material. The obtained depth differences were found to be less than 1% of the MBES mean depths. Total Vertical uncertainty (TVU) was calculated as ± 0.30 m and used to test the quality of the bathymetric surveys meeting the minimum requirement for permissible uncertainty standards. The results were checked against the allowable uncertainty values stated in the IHO standards 'Special Order' and USACE standards. MBES data were compared with SBES to check the relative uncertainty. Two surveyed working areas were selected during May and June 2015. Single-beam echo sounder (SBES) and multi-beam echo sounder (MBES) data were acquired during the dredging operations in Suez Canal, Egypt.
